Peter did not reset Naomi’s Skroll. It would reset automatically when she reactivated her iPass. He would know she was okay. He opened his Skroll. Tapped on Naomi’s image like she was in the room with him. Her Skroll was. He opened her Zing. Status. Life is good. He watched her minidoc. It was beautiful like it had captured a memory. Not just a video recording of a dance but the real feelings behind the dance. A feeling that he had been part of the inspiration. The minidoc had a lot of likes. And a lot of shares. It was good. It deserved what it got. Over four K. Shared by Barneby. She would be made if she was sill there. She could earn real money from MdMa.
He got Naomi’s Skroll from the table. He played her skating night journey. She was skating fast. He flicked the playback onto his Skroll. He started fiddling with it. He put a second figure back in. A faster skater. An animation of Jack.. A stickman. He was not a good enough programmer to put the real Jack back in.
He watched her journey. She took a long time in a tunnel. He overlaid the journey on a map. Naomi spent too long in the tunnel. Much too long. That was where she had stopped. He tracked back. Then forward. Found a camera. Piggbacked the signal. Skrolled back to find who had been there. First there was a blink. Timed seemed to stretch a little. The sign someone had been erased. Miller. Then came the rest. He got three faces. Easy fo find. They had all been in the news. Running drugs and sex trafficking.
Alice 9. Mary Glasgow. Duffy Dims.
Alice and Mary. Two teenagers found guilty of murdering a charity worker. The two teenagers had been likened to highway robbers after their violent spree in North London. They left a trail of destruction as they robbed as many people as they could moving from one victim to the next. Andrew Sing handed over his valuables when confronted by Mary Glasgow but she had stabbed him in the chest. The victim staggered to his parent’s house. He had collapsed on the front steps. He died in front of his parents. The court heard the teenagers were unmoved by the plight of the victim or his parents. They had left to find their next victim minutes later. They were convicted at the Old Bailey.
Convicts seldom make it back to London. Even if they had not been out of London before their conviction.
Duffy Dims famously once described as that bigoted man. Duffy supported the ban on swearing in public places. He claimed to have once stopped youths swearing in the street. The boy was swearing his head off. There was an old woman sitting next to him saying oh dear. I told him to shut his filthy mouth. He was surprised. No one had ever told him what to do. He just stopped. The old woman thanked me later.
Peter erased the playback. He lay on his back. He fell asleep.
When he woke he looked at his Skroll. The image of Naomi had gone. Her Skroll had reset. She had opened her iPass.
