Dearest Sister

There is so much potential here.  Wow, that is quite a sentence to start a message but it is true.  We had a visitor today, an important visitor.  Everyone was nervous, watchful.  They did not know how to behave around the man.  You know the type.  You have many men like that you have to negotiate.  I decided I would relax and be myself.  Be entertaining.  And the best way I can be myself is through dance.  In Tianjin I was nothing more than a reasonable traditional dancer, but here I am exotic.  They have never seen out dance moves so my style is fresh and new.  I put together some of the basic moves we learned as children and I had them in the palm of my hand. Peter was inspired.  Diane and John were captivated.  The the visitor had the strongest response.  Completely engrossed.

So hear this: I have worked out a plan.  I am going to ask my neighbour to help me understand how to make minidocs and I will combine our traditional dance with the latest in London life.  The dance will tell my story.  First I will have a little bird coming to London.  You know the dance I mean.  Fluttering about all alone.  In London she will watch all the different birds.  They will be the people I meet.  I have a few in mind already.  There is a performer who will have the peacock dance.  There is my neighbour.  I am not sure about his dance.  There might be any of the people in this house.  The birds will circle and encircle.  They will swoop and intertwined and will strive to celebrate their strangeness, their foreignness while at the same time always anchoring in London.  So the people of London will love it.  They will love the thrust of the dance.  They will love the naked beauty of the dance.

Of course, I only know the beginning of the series of dances.  I have only been in London for a few days.  It will be a biography of my fame.  The au pair that shows the au pair spirit.

Love,
