062 :: Practice, practice, practice

Peter came up the stairs. Naomi tidied away her breakfast dishes.  She went down to the bedroom.  She dressed quickly.  Put her ehhlie-drive in her bag.  Opened her Skroll.  Practiced her sentence.  Went back up to Peter.

I practice skating. (Naomi)

Enjoy.  I might see you later.  I am going to the shops in a bit. (Peter)

Naomi strolled to the end of the quiet street.  She stopped.  Checked her Skroll.  Jack was in his house.  Peter was at home.  She skated down the road.  She was slow.  She did not wobble as much as the last time.  She turned.  Skated back up the road.  Stopped.  Checked her Skroll.  Jack was in his house.  Peter was at home.  She skated to the big advert screen.  The one she had been on.  She stopped.  Closed her ehhlies.  She was not on screen.  She watched the mini-doc of a fox chasing a chicken which turned into a chicken chasing a fox.  Clever really.  She turned.  Leaned her back on the screen.  Her advert appeared on the screen.  She did not see herself.  Her shoulders at her advert hip height.  She watched the cars go by.  Mostly pods.  She opened her Skroll.  No movement from Jack.  Or Peter.

Naomi watched a skater glide down the road.  No drive.  Just ehhlies.  He was fast.  Fast as the pods.  He smiled as he passed her.  She waved.  He was gone.  She held the fence.  Tapped open her ehhlies.  She skated back towards the house.  Faster.  More rhythm in her hips.  More sway.  Not reckless.  Just keeping going.  She turned again.  Skated to the advert.  Stopped.  Opened her Skroll.  Jack was still at home.  Peter was on the move.  She put away her Skroll.  Waited until she saw Peter.  Waved at him.  Skated towards him.  Faster than before.  Rhythmically.  With sway.  She laughed when she got near him.  She did not stop.  Once passed him she slowed.  Skated to the end of the road.  Turned.  Peter was not in sight.
