They were quiet in the house. Quite like they did not know how to start a conversation. Again. Quiet like they did not suit each other’s company. Naomi separated the laundry. She put on a load. Peter mopped the wet room.
They passed each other in silence. Naomi cleaned the window. Peter prepared dinner.
Naomi retreated to the bedroom. She opened her Skroll. She looked for a new game. She had no credit. Even free games would not download. They knew she could not make in-play purchases. There were old games on the Skroll. She played Diamontini. An okay game. Sometimes it mattered how quickly you did the task. Sometimes it mattered what order you did the task in. The graphics were a bit dull. Little monsters turning into diamonds. Quite cliched. They had nice angry faces when she made a mistake. One shook its head. One waggled its fist. One sat down. One looked exasperated. The exasperated expression was really good. The game did not last long. Free games never do.
Naomi started writing to her sister. Peter came down the stairs. Naomi rolled her Skroll closed. Pricked up her cleaning bag. Went to clean the bathroom. Peter smiled awkwardly as she left the room as if he had planned to say something. In the bathroom Naomi finished the note to her sister.
