XV The Devil

I have heard the devil is an oppressive experience that is, in least at part, from within.  It is like having a chains weighing you down, and, to be honest, you are probably not alone but neither of you are able to, or try to lift the chains from your necks even though they are loose enough to be removed.

This can be viewed as an addiction.  And addiction involves a compulsive behaviour, a repetition of a habit that soothes the symptom, soothes the symptoms again and again but does not address the cause, and cannot approach the cure.  Masks and diversions.  However, this behaviour of avoiding certain feelings does, also, in itself create a myth about the feelings that are being avoided.  Sometimes it is necessary to protect against the dark and the darkness but we have to be certain we are not creating an unnecessary phobia through the repetition.  Sometimes it is good to uncover those hard feelings to ensure they should be avoided.
